My Name is Fae, and in 2023, just days after giving birth to my son, I received a phone call that changed the entire course of my life.
I was in a leadership role at a large company that prided itself on inclusion and care. But only a few days into my maternity leave, I was informed that my position had been “repositioned.” I wouldn’t be returning to my role. Not at the same pay. Not with the same title. Just like that, everything I’d built was gone.
They offered me a severance package. Generous on paper. Devastating in principle.
But sadly, this wasn’t the first time I’d felt unsupported by the corporate world.
In 2019, after having my second child, I faced open harassment for pumping at work. I was called “disgusting.” “Inappropriate.” And despite reporting it, nothing changed. No consequences. No protections. Just quiet shame, brushed under the rug.
Here’s the truth no one wants to admit:
The modern workplace is still a battlefield for women—especially mothers.
And though it’s 2025, there are days I wonder if we’re just replaying the 1950s in nicer fonts.
So when that call came after my third child, I knew:
If I accepted the pay cut and stayed, I wouldn’t just be compromising my income—I’d be compromising my dignity. My peace. My belief that it could ever be different.
So I took the severance. And I made a choice:
I would build something of my own.
That choice became This Business Mom LLC—a movement and a mentorship space for women like me who are tired of being told to “choose” between motherhood and ambition.
Now, I help other women build aligned, sustainable online businesses that don’t demand sacrifice to be successful. Businesses that honor flexibility, freedom, and family. Businesses that fit into the beautiful, chaotic, sacred rhythms of real life.
If you’ve ever felt silenced, dismissed, or disrespected in the workplace—you’re not alone.
And you don’t have to keep trying to fit into systems that weren’t built for you.
You can build your own.
And I’m here to help you do it.
